2027 bimota KB998 Rimini now Euro 5+ compliant
As base machine for the WorldSBK race bikes ridden to podium places by BbKRT riders Alex Lowes and Axel Bassani, the bimota KB998 Rimini has created a global sensation and put the Italian manufacturer of handcrafted two-wheeled exotica firmly back in focus.
Available so far in “track-only” form, the 2027 KB998 Rimini takes this exclusive model in the expanding bimota range to the next level with the achievement of Euro 5+ homologation. Achieving road bike status has been a logical step for Pierluigi Marconi and his small team of engineers and stylists creating a machine that will demand attention whatever street it is parked on and whichever highway it traverses.
Relying on much of the same specification as the current KB998 Rimini, the 2027 model also includes high-quality source materials such as Anticorodal, Ergal, and Avional billet aluminium to create items including the exquisite swingarm and triple clamps. This is allied to a tubular chromium-molybdenum main frame plus other eye catching components crafted and hand assembled by bimota artisans in the Italian coastal town of Rimini.
The 2027 model is differentiated visually by flashes of green on the carbon fibre bodywork which combine with red and white suggesting the Italian national flag, a look inherited from the BbKRT race bikes of Lowes and Bassani. Under the skin, a number of component changes including new ECU settings, wiring loom parts, plus an additional oxygen sensor, combine with the famed Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10RR engine to unleash a machine that is track fashioned yet equally at home on city streets.
Commenting on the new machine, Mr Shigemi-Tanaka, Chairman of the board, bimota S.p.A said:
“The timing of this Euro5+ compliant model is perfect. As the BbKRT team campaigns in its second season, the podium potential of the WorldSBK machine is clear to see. Expanding the availability of the KB998 Rimini into a fully road legal Euro 5+ motorcycle not only reflects the essential spirit of WorldSBK racing, but it also further widens the considerable appeal of the bimota brand”.
For bimota, COO Pierluigi Marconi concluded:
“For sure this has been a super busy time these past few years, but are we not complaining – in fact we thrive on pressure. Taking the KB998 Rimini to its Euro 5+ compliance level was one of our core ambitions. Combine this with the realisation of what we knew the potential of the machine would be in WorldSBK and you have the ideal scenario in 2027. Customers can now ride the a new Euro 5+ iteration of this exceptional motorcycle on public roads.”
