Season Finale On The Horizon For BbKRT

Season Finale On The Horizon For BbKRT

The 12th and final round of the 2026 FIM Superbike World Championship season will soon take place at the always popular 4.423km-long Circuito de Jerez - Angel Nieto, in Spain, between 16-18 October.

Jerez is a frequently used WorldSBK race and testing venue, and has seen competitive action during 12 previous seasons. It is an even more frequently used venue for winter testing, by the BbKRT squad and many others.

Winter testing before this particular season was often affected by changeable weather, but Jerez is still a well-known circuit for Alex Lowes and Axel Bassani - and many of their championship rivals.

Entering the final round of the season, just one week after the previous round in Estoril, Alex is fourth in the overall points ranking, with a 12-point advantage over the competitor in fifth place. That rider happens to be his own brother, Sam.

After an increasingly rewarding set of race results at Estoril, Axel is in seventh place overall, and just six points from the rider ahead of him. Another 11 points ahead is the rider in fifth place.

In short, there is much still to play for at Jerez, for both bimota KB998 Rimini riders.

The ideal scenario is for Axel and Alex to get back onto the race podiums, which each BbKRT rider has already achieved this year, during the first round of the season in Australia.

Jerez’s eagerly anticipated WorldSBK finale will feature all four championship categories that operate inside the overall paddock.

The WorldSBK riders will take part in two Free Practice sessions on Friday, 16 October, then FP3, Superpole Qualifying, and Race One on Saturday - and finally the Superpole Race and Race Two on Sunday. As ever, the Superpole Race is scheduled for ten laps, and at this round, the ‘long’ Jerez WorldSBK races will be run over 20 laps.

Alex Lowes stated: “I'm looking forward to the last round, but I’m also a bit sad, as this year has gone so fast. I'm enjoying the bike a lot at the minute and riding well, so I'm excited to get to Jerez and start work. It's a track that everyone has a lot of knowledge of, but one I enjoy. Our target is to finish the year as strongly as possible and have some fun along the way. Big thanks to all in the BbKRT team for the big effort they have all put in this year.”

Axel Bassani stated: “We did not get to test a lot this year because of the weather conditions, but in the end, Jerez is a track where everyone has tested a lot in the past, so everyone has a lot of data from there. We will see what happens at Jerez, but we go there after a positive weekend at Estoril and a generally positive year. I think both sides of the team are doing a really good job, fighting for top positions. We know that it is not easy this season because Ducati increased the level of the racing a lot, but we are there, trying to do our maximum. We will continue to push until the end, to fight for the top five until the last race. Then we will see what happens.”
