Past Meets The Present For bimota At Jerez
The bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team KB998 Rimini machines of Alex Lowes and Axel Bassani took to the track at Jerez for the final race of the 2026 FIM Superbike World Championship in a special livery that reflects another iconic bimota model - the Australia-only 1985 bimota DB1.
Under the expectant gaze of the TV cameras, the photographers’ lenses and the media, Alex Lowes and Axel Bassani entered the track ready to race for the last time in 2026 with their deep black liveries highlighted by gold and red pinstripes.
The new era of bimota remains true to everything that has always made the brand great. The 1970s and ‘80s were defining decades for bimota, a period of growth and consolidation that established the brand as a distinctive name in premium motorcycle manufacturing.
Today, that heritage inspires a new chapter with the introduction of the ‘Nero’ livery. Drawing inspiration from a special edition of the 1985 bimota DB1 created specifically for the Australian market, the new design reinterprets a piece of the brand’s history through a contemporary racing identity.
More than a livery, Nero is BbKRT’s tribute to the bimota spirit: the courage to do things differently, the determination to challenge conventions and the ambition to create something truly special.
As the new era of bimota continues to take shape on the WorldSBK stage, Nero is a reminder that bimota are possibly the most beautiful bikes on earth, available only for few.
The future of bimota is inspired by what has always made the brand unique.
