BbKRT All Set For Motorland Test Session

BbKRT All Set For Motorland Test Session

Motorland Aragon in Spain will be the host venue for the bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team (BbKRT) to get back into track action, during a two-day test session on 25-26 August, before the season restarts for real in France in the first weekend of September.

The Motorland test will be formed of two parts for BbKRT. On day one, test rider Xavi Fores will be out on track, evaluating items and settings before the regular race duo - Alex Lowes and Axel Bassani - take to the track for one day on Tuesday 26 August.

With two-thirds of the 12-round season already complete, this Motorland test is an ideal opportunity for the team to not just collect on-track experience and data at what will be a championship race venue, but also get all the team members back into trackside action after the long summer break. The most recent WorldSBK round was held at Balaton Park, in Hungary, in late July.

This Motorland test is the first time that the KB998 Rimini has taken part in a WorldSBK track session at the unique 5.077km long circuit, in the high deserts of this historic region of Spain. Motorland is the longest and one of the fastest tracks on the entire WorldSBK calendar in 2025. Aragon is something of a home round for the Barcelona-based staff that work inside the BbKRT squad, even if the bimota headquarters are located in Rimini, on the Adriatic coast of Italy.

The new-for-2025 bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team project has already hit some peaks in its ‘rookie’ season, including taking a first front-row start, a first podium, and holding the leading position in a WorldSBK race.

After the forthcoming Motorland Aragon test is complete, the season restarts from its long summer break at the well-known Magny Cours circuit, between 5-7 September.

Alex Lowes stated: “We will be testing for one day, and it will be nice to get back out again after a few weeks off. I think the main target is to get back up to speed and get the first taste of the KB998 Rimini around Aragon. There are always some small details that my crew chief Pere wants to work on to improve our overall performance, which should help us for the final four rounds. The target, as always, is to make another step forward. I am really looking forward to getting back with the guys, getting back to work, and I think it is perfect that we are going to get a run-out this week to be ready for the next round, one week after, in Magny Cours. The main target of the test is to get back up to speed and then hopefully, by the afternoon, try some new ideas that Pere and the guys from bimota have. We will keep it simple and have some fun.”

Axel Bassani stated: “We have one day of testing in Aragon, and it will be important because we have the race there in a few weeks. There are two long straights at Motorland, and we do not have speed at the moment on the straights. We will focus as much as we can on the set-up to find a really good solution. In the first part of the season, we had some problems, but we know where we can improve. We have something on the bike that we can try, so we will see if that works. After the test day, we will decide how to proceed, also for the next round in Magny Cours.”

Guim Roda, BbKRT Team Manager, stated: “This Motorland Test is organised to give our riders the chance to make some laps after the summer break, and before the four final rounds of the season begin. Motorland is a track we will race on soon, so it will help to find the best set-up during a year - which has been full of new situations, because we have a new bike at each round. We are discovering different things and ideas to help improve the bike’s set-up, race-by-race. We need more track time away from the stress of race weekends to understand how to extract the best from the KB998 Rimini. Let’s see if we can make another step to be ready for the next round in Magny Cours.”
