Jerez Hosts Final Round Of BbKRT’s Strong Debut Season

The first FIM Superbike World Championship season for the bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team will end soon at the iconic Circuito de Jerez - Angel Nieto. The 12th round of the year, which started back in February in Australia, will take place between 17-19 October - just a few days after the penultimate round was completed in Portugal.
Alex Lowes and Axel Bassani have tested the bimota KB998 Rimini machine at Jerez in the build-up to its first season in WorldSBK. The team hopes to build on these experiences, and those gained through 2025 so far, to finish on a high at the popular 4.423km-long venue in Andalusia.
So far, the four-cylinder KB998 Rimini has taken four podium places in the hands of Lowes, and three front-row starts - with the first one for Bassani and the subsequent two for Lowes.
The overall aim for the team is to try and post their combined best results of the season so far, to end the first campaign with bimota machinery on a high.
As it stands, after 11 of 12 rounds, Lowes is an improved sixth in the championship standings, with his team-mate Bassani tenth. Axel’s best individual finish so far is fifth place, which he secured in Race Two at Assen.
Every WorldSBK paddock-based championship will feature at the final round in Jerez.
WorldSBK riders will have two free practice sessions on Friday, 17 October, then one more FP3 session before Superpole Qualifying and then the first 20-lap race of the weekend on Saturday, 18 October.
The ten-lap Tissot-Superpole Race, and then another 20-lap Race Two, will wrap up not just the Jerez round, but the entire 2025 season.
Alex Lowes stated: “It has been a good year and we have had some good races recently. Jerez is a track that I enjoy. I think the bike can go well there, so the target is to try to fight for the podium, if possible, to finish this first year on the bimota in a good way. If not, we will take the best we can. The same principles apply - work hard on Friday, get the bike feeling good and then get stuck into the races. The team is doing a fantastic job and we are all really enjoying it.”
Axel Bassani stated: “The last round is coming soon. Everything was new for us this year, so it has not been easy. But we have worked hard all year to be the best possible. Honestly, I have not arrived with the result that I hoped but we have one more race weekend to try and achieve it. I am happy about the work we have done with the team and we are really ready for the last round, where I will give my maximum.”
